♫ never mess with sunday ♫

Lazy Sunday mornings...the best kinds of mornings. This Sunday was no exception. Ignoring all the stresses of school work and life in general, I took a moment to appreciate the start of a new week. With this said, pancakes seemed to be the appropriate breakfast food this brisk morning. The blur effect in the second image from my 50mm f/1.4 macro lens really gave the picture depth I enjoy. I picked this unique song by Yppah for this post because it is the type of song you listen to in the morning and become inspired to be something truly great that day. This strictly instrumental track will always be one of my favorites. Happy Sunday to all.

♫ 1957 ♫

Have you ever found a town that makes you take a step back and appreciate the little things in life? This small town in southern Indiana did just that for me. The rustic, down to earth impression made me never want to leave this little place (and the fact I bought an ice-cream cone for only $1.50!). While walking around and doing a lot of window shopping, I stubbled upon a camera shop that was filled with vintage cameras, lenses, typewriters, and so much more. I had never been to a store that had so much history behind it. It was truly remarkable. For that reason, I chose the song "1957" by Milo Greene for this post. Milo Greene is a cinematic pop band with an indie feel. Their distintive sound parallels the beauty and unique qualities of this one of a kind little place.

♫ Your house that sits behind me is covered in every green
The windows that we watch from are old and chipping at the beam
Takes me away takes me away takes me away
Takes me away takes me away takes me away

♫ troubles will ge gone ♫

Well, I took a brief hiatus from this blog due to an overwhelming amount of things going on in my life, but I am back and excited to post many of the pictures I've taken these past few months! This post is dedicated to my love for autumn in the midwest. There's something about this season that has a spark of magic to it. The trees burst with color, and the air has a light crisp that makes me want to curl up by the fire and read a good book. October has and most likely will continue to be my favorite month of the year. It is the start of the Holiday season and the friendliness in the midwest seems to get even friendlier. A song that will always remind me of this charming season is "Troubles Will Be Gone" by Tallest Man on Earth. I had this song on repeat for quite sometime because it left me with a feeling of complete serenity. Kristian Matsson has a voice that is so mesmerizing and immediately connects you to his lyrics. To me, this song choice for autumn could not be more perfect. Enjoy.

But there's that sign up to a hill to see the far of the land
Well the sign will say, "There's still a higher one"
And now the day is slowly setting, and the lights on where you're sleeping
So I hope somewhere that troubles will be gone ♫

♫ sunshine from the inside ♫

Over the long Easter weekend, my best friend and I had the privilege to go to Florida for some much needed r&r. I found this to be a perfect opportunity to experiment with my recently purchased 50mm 1.4 prime lens. Let me just say, I am OBSESSED. I'm really impressed with the image quality this lens is able to capture. Really great optical quality. I also love the bokeh effect so many of these images have thanks to this lens. Not only that, but this lens was super easy to travel with. I definitely would recommend it. Thanks to my best friend Rachel for being such a natural. Also love this fun tune by Hello Gravity. Happy Friday the 13th!

♫ and I'm as honest as a human can be
but right now i don't dare to breathe
'cause you painted a smile on my face

♫ that sunset ♫

This shoot with my dear friend Tiana could not have been more fun. Her natural and effortless beauty really made my job so easy. Towards the end of the shoot in the field, we were racing against the sunset (and the cold!), but were really able to capture some great shots. The song I chose for this post is called That Sunset by The Lonely Biscuits. Tiana introduced me to this band because her lovely boyfriend Sam is the drummer. The Lonely Biscuits beautifully intertwine various forms of vocals and melodies to create a unique style of soul. Definitely worth checking out.

there's nothing better than that feel good music
if it wasn't for the love then we'd just all lose it
